Both men and women work as nurses in our hospitals. Sometimes, male nurses are jokingly called ‘murses’. Jokes aside, the job is a very serious one. The only thing that matters at work is that everything is done well. A male nurse is just as competent as his female counterpart. However, it sometimes happens that some patients don’t quite understand this.
Let’s see how Anti is doing as a nurse.
Anti works as a nurse in a hospital. He loves his job. He helps patients. He gives them the medicines prescribed for them. He does the necessary analyses. Anti also has to fill in a lot of important paperwork. Sometimes, there are different tasks as well. Sometimes carers don’t have time to do everything that needs to be done. Then Anti has to help them. It’s not difficult for Anti. The most difficult thing for him is to explain to patients that there are lots of things a nurse can do. There is no need to always wait for a doctor.
One day, a female patient refused to let Ant take samples for tests from her. The patient insisted on having the samples taken by a doctor or at least a female nurse. The patient said that the nurse must not be a man. The patient didn’t trust Anti because his job title is nurse, but he is a man. The hospital’s doctor came to help Anti. The doctor explained to the patient that the hospital does not discriminate on the basis of gender. A nurse is a nurse! The doctor told the disgruntled female patient to man up and let the nurse take the samples. Employees should be judged on their skills and will to work, not on their gender!
