Temporary special measures are targeted at one gender group and aim to reduce gender inequality.
Temporary special measures can be very different. Examples include measures to create more vocational training or job opportunities for men, so that they can work in sectors where men have traditionally not worked or where they are underrepresented. Ensuring access to higher levels of responsibility for women by motivating employers to recruit and promote women is also a special measure. There are also promotion measures or incentives aimed at representatives of the underrepresented sex to encourage them to apply for training or jobs. Quotas can also be set to include women or men in decision-making positions from which they were previously excluded and where they are still under-represented.
